“Breast milk is a creative design for baby’s optimum health, and for a beautiful bonding experience between a mother & her child.”

Hi ladies! Welcome back.

Glad to see you're interested in learning more about dispelling those ugly breastfeeding myths. I'm a trained childbirth educator.... here to support & equip you! If you missed my first article (on Myth #1 and Myth #2), you can read it here. (it’s pretty juicy)

If you're having any concerns or doubts about breastfeeding, I hope this article EMPOWERS you to keep moving forward with your desire for nursing your kiddos. I hope this article strengthens your resolve to breastfeed. And… maybe just maybe, you can encourage other mamas with these empowering truths too!

Let’s dive in!

Myth no. 3 - YOUR BABY WILL NATURALLY KNOW HOW TO NURSE

Truth - Your baby has natural instincts to turn their heads if something is stroking their cheek, and to open their mouth if something is gently stroking their chin or lips, and to start sucking when something touches the roof of its mouth. Some babies even move their way to the breast if immediately placed on mom’s bare chest, finding their way to the nipple. However, breastfeeding is a *learned* experience with mother and baby.

Special techniques are learned to help baby latch *properly*. Mom can learn varying positions for an easeful & enjoyable experience. These needed techniques & special “mom hacks” can be implement during breastfeeding times, to make it successful.

Myth no. 4 - BABY WON’T GET ENOUGH NUTRIENTS with exclusive breastfeeding.

Truth - The truth is breastmilk is POWERFUL. It has allowed people to LIVE and GROW for the past several thousand years. There was no formula 1000 yrs ago...I'm not dissing formula... I share my journey with it in my birth course.... so, while formula does have nutrients in it, they are synthetic. There is no formula on the planet that contains the stem cells, antibodies, antivirals, anti-bacterials, anti-parasites, colostrum, and other nutrients that breastmilk contains, specifically for your baby's growing needs.

Your nipple has sensors that pick-up viruses, bacteria, and parasites, from the back of baby's throat. The nipple then signals to your brain to produce antibodies that your baby needs in that moment. How miraculous and amazing is this? Formula can never do this. There are breastmilk-specific nutrients that formula does not contain.

The way our breasts are designed to nurture, heal, support, sustain, and grow our babies is absolutely miraculous.

Myth no. 5 - BREASTFEEDING IS SO MUCH WORK

Truth - breastfeeding is a lot of work (at first), however... bottle feeding requires boiling water and cooling it down each time, proper bottle washing regiments, making and preparing bottles before or when you run errands or hang out with family or friends... once you get breastfeeding underway (usually before the first month passes) ... you just whip out your breast anywhere you are and quickly latch your baby on. —No boiling water, no bottle cleaning... and no HIGH COST of formula (can I get an amen?!). No need to supplement baby with extra water through the day... simply offer them your breast. You will save HUNDREDS of dollars (and time) each month with breastfeeding.

Which of these dispelled myths encourages & moves you forward in your journey?
