Miraculous Provision
God is first introduced as Provider with the Hebrew name Jehovah Jirah, by Abraham, in Genesis 22:14.
God often provides for us by giving us abilities and creativities to build wealth. He has strategy for us for our financial provision. He knows how to give us favor and how to add promotions at our workplace. He can increase our energy for more efficient work productivity & give us financial business strategy. He is the great Creator, who can increase our creative abilities to earn cash. We don't sit idle because "he establishes and blesses the work of our hands" Ps. 90:17.
Can He also provide for us through miraculous and unexpected circumstances? Do you know anyone struggling with finances? Sit tight, and pour yourself your favorite "cup of comfort" because this is a wild story.
Acts 8:26-38 says "But an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip saying, “Get up and go south to the road that descends from Jerusalem to Gaza.” So he got up and went; ... then the Holy Spirit said to Philip, “Go up and join this chariot.” Philip ran up and heard the man inside, reading from the scriptures...Philip opened his mouth, and...preached Jesus to him. (This man gave his life to Christ and was afterwards baptized) then... THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD SNATCHED PHILIP AWAY; and the man no longer saw him."
Did you just read what I just read? Philip disappeared! Disappeared, my friends. We're not talking aliens or witchcraft, or New Age stuff. We're talking God, the Creator of the universe transported Philip to another place. This is one of those crazy-cool unexplainable novelties in scripture that we can grab onto for faith in God's provision.
How so?
I'll start out by sharing that my parents live open handed with their money. Even with three kids when money was tight, they trusted God with their finances. Regularly I hear my dad saying "everything we have belongs to the Lord, we are stewards of it, He can do whatever He wants with it. God gave it to us and we give it right back to Him". How beautiful is this? Living so open handed.
I was in my mid-20s, still living under my parent's roof. I had borrowed $500 from them. When it came time to repay them I got a stack of 20's totaling $500. Normally I wouldn't have counted it out but the Holy Spirit encouraged me to count it to my mom. After counting, I gave my mom the cash. She walked down the hallway towards her bedroom. Although I had just counted out the money to her I remained at our kitchen table sensing she might ask if I gave her the full $500.
Sure enough, within a minute, she called down the hallway "how much money did you give me, Liz?" Not realizing I was about to walk into a crazy miracle experience I responded; "I gave you $500, it was all there".
“I know it was all there", she replied. She then told me that while walking down the hallway she felt the stack of cash THIN OUT, right there in her hand. This prompted her to recount the money. She discovered $100 was missing.
You guys...she felt her money leave her hand!
We looked at eachother in awe, both realizing what just happened. Apparently God transported money from one place to another, like He transported Philip. Without hesitation, my mom said "well, God knew I didn't need it and He must've known SOMEBODY who did!".
I am that SOMEBODY, you are that SOMEBODY. God sees EVERY SOMEBODIES on earth and He knows all of our needs and He delights in providing. While this experience of my parents' money transporting is most likely rare, it teaches us that God can also provide for our needs in miraculous and unexpected ways.
Does this mean God is going to snatch money out of your hand? Or transport your possessions to somebody else? No, definitely not.
This story is to encourage you if your financial situation looks bleak, or if you don't see your finances making a turn for the better anytime soon. Perhaps you're stacking your monthly bills to barely make ends meet. Or perhaps you are between jobs. Or, maybe you don't have a retirement plan or future finances set up.
We have the opportunity to join with God in stewarding our money and trusting Him with financial provision, even when there is a deficit, even if we are in debt, even if we spent our finances poorly in the past. He wants to join us in our finances, right now, right where we are. He takes what little we have and can multiply it, just like the little boy's sack lunch of 5 loaves and 2 fish. God took this little lunch and multiplied it to feed thousands.
So, if you or somebody you know is concerned about their finances... God wants to free them from this fear, replacing it with financial confidence. Confidence in God as our Provider and as the one who guides us with provision. You are so loved, and your well-being is important to the Lord.
