A dream of Jesus
I dreamt recently that something happened causing me to forget my past.
In the dream there was a man with an energetic joy, with whom I felt ease & a sense of "knowing". I wanted to be close to him... yet because of my memory I didn't know who he was.
This man wasn't bothered by my memory loss, he knew I would remember him someday. It would just take a little time.
He asked if he could give me a hug.
While giving me an embrace he said "I love you so much Liz."
I FELT his love. I wanted to remember him.... I knew he loved me & I wanted to love him the same way back.
Later in the dream I was given a journal of my future. The first page showed my marriages, this man was my first...
His name was Josh. (derivative from YHWH, Yahweh. Meaning "salvation", Jehovah is salvation.)
Then it hit me. I was hugging Jesus.
Revelation 2:4 encourages us to not “forget, abandon, send away, or release” our first love. Yet, sometimes life can feel so stinkin' hard that situations can cause us to drift, or cause us to think we have "forgotten" our first love in God.
In the dream God knew what happened that caused my "memory loss" & yet it didn't bother him... he was embodied peace & KNEW my memory would return. He wasn't mad at me. He didn't shame me. He just held me and told me of His love.
Sometimes life hands us lemons. Jesus said that in this life hard times will happen... but don't worry because “I have overcome the world & I am with you.”
Have you gone through difficult times? Do you want to be closer to Jesus, but you're just not there? Do you feel guilty that you aren't where you want to be with God?
This dream is an encouragement! God UNDERSTANDS the things that have happened in your life. The hard thing that you feel "threw you off course" or that caused great disappointment or unbelief. Nothing in your life has surprised God or cause him to scramble to try to align your life back-together again. He knows ALL your days, past, present, and future. All your days are written in his book (Psalm 139:15).
“There is a sure way for us to know that we belong to the Truth. Even though our inner thoughts may condemn us with storms of guilt and constant reminders of our failures, we can know in our hearts that in His presence God Himself is greater than any accusation. He knows all things.” —1 John 3:20 (the VOICE translation)
God is with you, calling you by name, hugging you, saying "I love you".
God knows your heart, and if you have a desire to be closer to him but you simply aren't, I have a sense that God isn’t mad at you, isn’t shaming you, and is CONFIDENT you will "remember" him and "return to your first love".
And when you are ready... set your intention to be proactive. "You will find me when you search for me with all your heart." Realign your heart, mind, daily rhythms, and your eyes back onto your first love, our heavenly Father. Spend time "soaking" in his presence and crack-open that Bible that's been sitting on your shelf. (wink wink)
Sending you hugs from Heaven.
Loving embrace.
“From far away the Lord appeared to his people. He said, “I love you with a love that will last forever. I became your friend because of my love & kindness.” —Jeremiah 31:3, ICB
